- "Kucinich
Abandons White House Bid." ... "[2008 Election Democratic
Presidential Candidate and Ohio Representative] Democrat Dennis Kucinich
is abandoning his second, long-shot bid for the White House as he faces
a tough fight to hold onto his other job - U.S. congressman." ... "Once
dubbed the "boy mayor" of Cleveland [Ohio], he made an unpopular decision
to refuse to sell a publicly owned utility that pushed the city into default
and drove him from office." ... "In 1994, Kucinich was elected state senator
and he then won a seat in Congress in 1996. His once unpopular stand against
the sale of the municipal electric system was praised as courageous. In
1998, the Cleveland City Council issued him a commendation for having the
foresight to refuse to sell it." ... "During his time in Congress, Kucinich
has been one of the most outspoken liberals, opposing international trade
agreements like the North America Free Trade Agreement and marching with
protesters in Seattle [Washington] during a meeting of the World Trade
Organization." ... "As a presidential candidate, he has proposed a Department
of Peace, backed universal health care and supported gay marriage. He also
pushed for impeachment of [Republican] Vice President Dick Cheney." -By

Starts New Impeachment Drive." ... "[T]oday [2008

Dennis] Mr. Kucinich took to the floor to fire off his latest salvo at
the [Republican President] Bush administration: his plans to introduce
Articles of Impeachment against President Bush on Jan. 28 — the day of
Mr. Bush’s State of the Union speech." ... "Accusing the [Republican President
Bush] administration of lying about the need for the war in Iraq, Mr. Kucinich
said he did not need to hear the president’s assessment. “We know the State
of the Union,” he declared. “It’s a lie.”" ... "“If impeachment is off
the table,” Mr. Kucinich said, “truth is off the table. If truth is off
the table then this body [Congress] is living a lie.”" -By

Election - "Clinton
Stuns Political World With New Hampshire Win." ...
"Hillary Clinton's 39%-37% win over Barack Obama in New Hampshire caught
almost everyone by surprise last night particularly pollsters, who had
universally forecast a comfortable Obama win. With 96% of precincts reporting,
John Edwards placed a distant 3rd with 17%, followed by Bill Richardson
with 5% and Dennis Kucinich with 1%, according to CNN's
numbers. This morning, media reports are describing the New York senator's
upset win as a startling political event. The Politico reports the primary's
outcome "made fools of the pollsters, pundits, operatives and even some
people in her own campaign who had predicted her imminent demise." The
AP
calls it a "startling upset," one that resurrects Clinton's "bid for the
White House." Exit polls, adds the AP, suggest Clinton's win was cemented
on the support of female voters, who "deserted her last week" in Iowa and
"returned to her column in New Hampshire." Clinton also "was winning handily
among registered Democrats. Obama led her by an even larger margin" than
in Iowa "among independents, but he suffered from a falloff in turnout
among young voters." The New
York Times also reports Clinton "rode a wave of female support" to
victory, adding "several New Hampshire women, some of them undecided until
Tuesday, said that a galvanizing moment for them had been Mrs. Clinton's
unusual display of emotion on Monday as she described the pressures of
the race and her goals for the nation -- a moment Mrs. Clinton herself
acknowledged as a breakthrough."" -USNews.com

Hampshire - "FOX,
ABC to reduce debate fields." ... "This weekend’s
[New Hampshire] presidential debates and forum will not include some nationally-known
candidates, and the chairmen of the state Republican and Democratic parties
are not happy." ... "Fergus Cullen and Raymond Buckley say the decisions
by ABC News, WMUR and, in Cullen’s case, FOX News, are inconsistent with
the New Hampshire primary’s tradition of providing a level playing field
for all candidates." ... "ABC News and WMUR-TV (Channel 9) confirmed today
that they have established performance-based criteria for Saturday night's
pair of presidential debates. Those rules could leave several relatively
well-known candidates on the outside looking in, including [2008 Election
Democratic Presidential Candidates] Democrats Dennis Kucinich, Joe Biden
and Chris Dodd." ... "And Cullen confirmed that FOX News has invited only
five presidential candidates to a GOP [GOP=Grand Old Party=Republican]
forum scheduled for Sunday night, leaving out [2008 Election Republican
Presidential Candidates] Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter." ... "GOP candidate
Paul has said that FOX News is “scared of me” and has called the network
“propagandists for this (Iraq) war, and I challenge them on the notion
that they are conservative.”" -By John Distaso

changing course midway through a vote, tried to force Democrats into a
debate on the resolution sponsored by longshot [2008 Election Democratic]
presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich." ... "The anti-war Ohio Democrat,
in his resolution, accused Cheney of purposely leading the country into
war against Iraq and manipulating intelligence about Iraq's ties with al-Qaida."
... "The resolution said that Cheney, "in violation of his constitutional
oath to faithfully execute the office of vice president," had "purposely
manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress
of the United States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction
to justify the use of the U.S. Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq
